Terms & Conditions
The rules that apply to every booking and every stay at Schöndorf Hostel. Please read them before you book — in particular the non-refundable policy and the rules for female-only dorms.
Last updated: 3 October 2026
1. Operator and scope
- 1.1Schöndorf Hostel (the “Hostel”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Mango House s.r.o., Company ID (IČO) 52917088, Obchodná 48, 811 06 Bratislava, Slovakia, e-mail info@schoendorfhostel.com.
- 1.2These Terms & Conditions apply to every stay at the Hostel and to every person on the premises — regardless of whether the booking was made on schoendorf.sk, through an online travel agency (Booking.com, Hostelworld, etc.), by phone, by message or in person.
- 1.3By making a booking, completing online check-in or entering the premises, every guest confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions, including the house rules and the fees listed below. The person who makes the booking accepts them on behalf of all guests in the booking and is jointly responsible for them.
- 1.4These Terms & Conditions are written in English. Any translation is for convenience only; in case of a discrepancy, the English version prevails.
2. Booking and contract
- 2.1A booking is binding once it has been confirmed and paid. The confirmation (confirmation page and/or e-mail) is the accommodation contract between the guest and the Hostel.
- 2.2The guest is responsible for checking the booking details — dates, room type, number of guests and names — before paying. Mistakes made by the guest when booking are not a reason for a refund or a free change.
- 2.3Group bookings (several beds or rooms booked together for one group) may be subject to separate conditions, and we may decline or cancel a group booking made through the standard booking flow.
- 2.4The minimum age to stay without a parent or legal guardian is 18. Guests under 18 may stay only together with a parent or legal guardian, who is fully responsible for them.
3. Prices, payment and city tax
- 3.1Direct bookings are paid in full at the time of booking, by card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Prices are in EUR.
- 3.2The Bratislava city tax (currently €3.50 per guest per night, set by the City of Bratislava) is not included in the room rate unless stated otherwise and must be paid before the access PIN is released. An exemption (e.g. ISIC student under 26, ZTP disability card) is granted only after the document has been verified; if it is rejected, the city tax must be paid.
- 3.3If a payment fails but the amount is held or debited by the guest’s bank, the money stays with the bank or the payment provider — it never reaches us. We are not responsible for such holds and cannot refund money we have not received.
- 3.4Fees charged by the guest’s bank or card issuer (currency conversion, foreign transaction fees, etc.) are borne by the guest.
4. Cancellations, changes and refunds
- 4.1All direct bookings are final and non-refundable. They cannot be cancelled, changed, shortened or transferred to another person or other dates.
- 4.2No refund is given — in whole or in part — for cancellation, no-show, late arrival, early departure, a missed train, bus or flight, illness, weather, travel restrictions, a change of plans, or for any of the situations described in sections “Female-only dorms”, “Check-in, ID and registration” and “Refusal of service and eviction”.
- 4.3Under Slovak consumer protection law, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to accommodation services provided on specific dates.
- 4.4Any change that we agree to in a particular case is a goodwill exception, does not create a precedent and may be subject to a fee and to the price difference.
- 4.5If we have to cancel a booking ourselves (for example because the building cannot be used), our liability is limited to a refund of the amount paid for the affected nights, or — at the guest’s choice — alternative accommodation of a comparable standard.
- 4.6Bookings made through an online travel agency are subject to the cancellation policy shown by that platform at the time of booking; cancellations and refunds for those bookings are handled exclusively through the platform. All other sections of these Terms & Conditions apply to them as well.
5. Female-only dorms
- 5.1Rooms marked as female-only are reserved exclusively for female guests. When booking a bed in a female-only dorm, the guest confirms that every guest in the booking is female.
- 5.2If a male guest (or a booking that includes a male guest) books a bed in a female-only dorm, he will not be given access to that room. The booking is not refunded, in whole or in part. This applies to direct bookings as well as to bookings made through any online travel agency.
- 5.3If a bed in a mixed dorm or a private room is available, we may offer it as a new, separately paid booking at the current rate. We are not obliged to find alternative accommodation.
- 5.4The gender stated in the booking and during online check-in must match the identity document. Providing false information is a breach of these Terms & Conditions.
6. Check-in, ID and registration
- 6.1Slovak law requires us to register every guest. Each guest must complete online check-in with true and complete personal details and a valid passport or national ID card, and must pass ID verification.
- 6.2Online check-in must be completed by 22:00 on the day of arrival. The access PIN is released only after online check-in, ID verification and full payment (including city tax) have been completed.
- 6.3Guests who do not complete check-in, refuse or fail ID verification, provide false or incomplete details, or present an identity document that does not match the booking will not be given access. In such cases the booking is not refunded.
- 6.4Only guests who are registered in the booking may stay overnight. The number of guests may not exceed the number of beds booked.
7. Check-in and check-out times
- 7.1Check-in is from 15:00. Check-out is by 10:00 on the day of departure. There is no curfew — the building can be accessed 24/7 with the PIN.
- 7.2Early check-in from 13:00 and late check-out until 11:00 or 12:00 are paid extras, subject to availability, and must be purchased in advance in the guest area. Room readiness before 15:00 is not guaranteed without a paid early check-in.
- 7.3Guests who stay beyond 10:00 without a paid late check-out will be charged €10 for each started hour; after 12:00 the full rate of an additional night is charged. Belongings left in rooms or lockers after check-out may be removed by staff.
8. Access codes, lockers and luggage
- 8.1The PIN code is personal and valid only for the booked stay. It must not be shared with anyone. Letting another person into the building or a room is prohibited.
- 8.2Each guest has a locker for their belongings. Lockers must be emptied by check-out. The luggage box can be used before check-in and after check-out at the guest’s own risk; items must be collected by 18:00, when the passage closes.
- 8.3The Hostel is not responsible for loss, theft or damage of belongings left outside a locked locker, or left in the luggage box, common areas, kitchen or courtyard.
9. House rules
- 9.1Quiet hours are from 22:00 to 07:00. Guests must be respectful of other guests and neighbours at all times.
- 9.2Smoking, vaping and the use of e-cigarettes, open flames, candles and incense are strictly prohibited everywhere inside the building, including rooms, bathrooms, corridors and stairways.
- 9.3Illegal drugs, weapons, fireworks and dangerous substances are prohibited on the premises. Parties and gatherings in rooms are not allowed.
- 9.4Visitors who are not registered guests are not allowed in rooms or dorms at any time.
- 9.5Pets are not allowed.
- 9.6The kitchen and common areas must be left clean; guests wash their own dishes and return shared items to their place. Food must be stored labelled and is removed at check-out.
- 9.7Hostel bed linen and towels must stay in the room. Sleeping bags brought by guests are not allowed in the beds.
- 9.8Guests must not tamper with locks, keypads, fire alarms, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, CCTV or any other technical equipment.
10. Damage, fines and extra charges
- 10.1Guests are liable for any damage, loss or excessive soiling they cause to the room, furniture, equipment or the building, and will be charged the full cost of repair, replacement and cleaning.
- 10.2In addition, the following fixed charges apply:
- smoking or vaping indoors — €200, plus the cost of any fire-alarm call-out or room downtime;
- tampering with fire safety equipment, locks or keypads — €300, plus the cost of repair and any call-out;
- unregistered visitor or overnight guest — €100 per person, plus the rate for each night;
- excessive mess, vomit or bodily fluids — cleaning fee of at least €50;
- missing or damaged bed linen, towels or blankets — at replacement cost, at least €30 per item.
- 10.3Charges are payable immediately. We may send the guest a payment request or link, collect them through the online travel agency’s damage or resolution process, offset them against any amount we hold, or recover them through legal action, including the costs of collection.
11. Refusal of service and eviction
- 11.1We may refuse a booking or check-in, or end a stay immediately without a refund, if a guest breaches these Terms & Conditions or the house rules, behaves aggressively, abusively or under the heavy influence of alcohol or drugs, endangers or seriously disturbs other guests, staff or neighbours, damages property, or provides false information.
- 11.2A guest who has been asked to leave must do so immediately. We may involve the police where necessary. Their access PIN will be deactivated.
12. Room and bed allocation
- 12.1A booking guarantees a bed or room of the booked type, not a specific room number, bed or bunk level. A preferred bed request is not guaranteed.
- 12.2For operational reasons (maintenance, overbooking, a technical fault, safety) we may move a guest to another bed or room of the same or a higher category. This is not a reason for a refund or compensation.
- 12.3All bathrooms in the Hostel are shared — no room has its own bathroom.
13. Liability
- 13.1To the extent permitted by law, the Hostel is not liable for loss of or damage to guests’ belongings, cash, documents, electronics or valuables, or for indirect losses such as missed travel connections.
- 13.2We are not liable for temporary interruptions of WiFi, hot water, electricity, heating, air conditioning, lifts or other services caused by third parties, maintenance or circumstances beyond our control. Such interruptions are not a reason for a refund.
- 13.3Neither party is liable for failing to perform due to force majeure (for example natural disasters, epidemics, official orders, utility outages, fire).
14. Promotions, promo codes and loyalty bookings
- 14.1Promotional rates and promo codes are subject to availability, may have blackout dates, are valid only for new bookings made on schoendorf.sk, cannot be combined with other offers and are not valid for group bookings.
- 14.2Loyalty and quick-book bookings are non-refundable, like all direct bookings.
- 14.3We may cancel a booking made with a promo code that was used in breach of its conditions, or charge the difference to the standard rate.
15. Café, Radost club and partner services
- 15.1Discounts and perks for hostel guests (for example at Schöndorf Café or in Radost Music Club) are a voluntary benefit, may change at any time and are not part of the accommodation contract. Free entry to Radost does not apply to premium ticketed events.
- 15.2Services of third parties (club, café, transport, tours, payment providers) are governed by their own terms.
16. Forgotten items
- 16.1Items left behind are kept for a limited time (up to 30 days) and then donated or disposed of. Shipping of forgotten items is a paid service that can be ordered on the Forgotten items page. Food, drinks and toiletries are not kept.
17. Complaints and dispute resolution
- 17.1Any complaint about the stay must be reported during the stay via the chat channels on the Help page, so that we can resolve it on the spot. Complaints raised only after check-out, which we could not verify or fix, may not be accepted.
- 17.2Written complaints can be sent to info@schoendorfhostel.com. We will respond within 30 days.
- 17.3A consumer who is not satisfied with how we handled a complaint may turn to an alternative dispute resolution body — in particular the Slovak Trade Inspection (Slovenská obchodná inšpekcia, www.soi.sk) — or to another entity listed by the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic.
18. Personal data and CCTV
- 18.1Personal data are processed as described in our Privacy Policy. Common areas are monitored by CCTV.
19. Governing law and changes
- 19.1These Terms & Conditions and all stays are governed by the law of the Slovak Republic. Mandatory consumer protection rules of the guest’s country of residence are not affected.
- 19.2We may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. The version published on this page at the time of booking applies to that booking; house rules and fixed charges apply in their current version during the stay.
- 19.3If any provision is found invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force.
